इस बारे में जानकारी देते हुए नगर निगम गुरूग्राम की अतिरिक्त आयुक्त डा. वैशाली शर्मा ने बताया कि मंत्रालय द्वारा देश के 11 शहरों को पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया है।
इनमें गुरूग्राम, औरंगाबाद, बैंगलुरू, कोची, कोहिमा, नागपुर, पिंपड़ी चिंचवाड़, पूना, उदयपुर, उज्जैन व विजयवाड़ा शामिल हैं। गुरूग्राम सभी शहरों में से दो नॉन-स्मार्ट सिटी में से एक है।
यह पुरस्कार सदर बाजाद स्ट्रीट को पैदल चलने, सुरक्षा में सुधार, समावेशीता पैदा करने और आसपास के क्षेत्र के पुर्नविकास को गति देने के हमारे प्रयासों के लिए दिया गया है। मार्च 2021 में नगर निगम गुरूग्राम द्वारा विभिन्न हितधारकों और तकनीकी विशेषज्ञों के साथ एक परीक्षण किया गया था।
