उत्तराखंड में चार धाम यात्रा से जुड़ी तीन सड़कों की चौड़ाई बढ़ाने को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने देश की सुरक्षा के लिहाज से अहम माना है। प्रोजेक्ट के खिलाफ एक एनजीओ की याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए कोर्ट ने कहा कि देश की सुरक्षा पहली प्राथमिकता है। हाल के दिनों में सीमा पर हुई घटनाओं को देखते हुए इसकी अनदेखी नहीं की जा सकती।
कोर्ट ने कहा कि हम नहीं चाहते कि भारतीय सैनिक 1962 के हालात में हों, रक्षा और पर्यावरण दोनों की जरूरतें संतुलित होनी चाहिए। श्री सलूजा ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व में केंद्र सरकार देश का विकास करने के साथ सीमाओं को लगातार सुरक्षित कर रही है। इसी को दृष्टिगत रखते हुए केंद्र सरकार ने चीन सीमा तक की सड़कों को 10 मीटर चौड़ा करने के लिए सुप्रीम कोर्ट से मंजूरी मांगी है।
