Gurugram – Election Commission of India – General Observer of Gurgaon parliamentary constituency, Dr. Dilraj Kaur held a meeting with the candidates contesting Lok Sabha elections and their representatives on Friday in the conference hall located at Mini Secretariat. Expenditure supervisors Durgadutt and Saurabh Kumar were also present in the meeting.
Returning Officer and DC of Gurgaon parliamentary constituency Nishant Kumar Yadav informed the candidates and their representatives present at the meeting about the guidelines of the Election Commission of India regarding the Model Code of Conduct.
Dr. Dilraj Kaur said that to keep the democratic system strong, the Election Commission of India has set a model code of conduct. To conduct the election process in a fear-free, free and fair manner, candidates should cooperate fully in ensuring that the Election Commission’s code is followed. All candidates will be provided equal opportunities in elections. District administration also plays an important role in ensuring that the rules of the Election Commission of India are followed.
The General Observer said that the Election Commission of India has set limits on various election related works. If any candidate or his supporters violate these limits, the local administration will take action as per rules. In such a situation, your conduct during elections should be according to the model code of conduct.
If any candidate feels that the rules are not being followed by any other candidate in the election, then he can inform about it at the PWD Rest House in Gurugram every day from 1 to 2 pm.
Candidates’ expenses will be reviewed on 13, 18 and 22
Returning Officer and DC Nishant Kumar Yadav said that all the candidates were provided a register to record the expenditure information at the time of nomination. Along with this, shadow registers have also been set up in all the 9 assembly constituencies according to the number of candidates. He said that expenditure observers will review the election expenditure of the candidates on May 13, 18 and 22 in the conference hall located at the Mini Secretariat. In such a situation, candidates or their agents arrive on time with details of their expenses.
He told that this time the Election Commission of India has given permission to the candidates to appoint an additional expenditure agent along with the election agent. Apart from this, MCMC committee has been constituted to give permission for issuing advertisements in electronic and print media. Application for their permission can be made in the office of the District Information and Public Relations Officer on the sixth floor of the Mini Secretariat.
Information about those voting from home will be shared with the candidates.
The Returning Officer said that this time voters above 85 years of age and with more than 40 percent disability have been given the facility to vote from home. There are 1800 such voters in Gurgaon parliamentary constituency. The voting of these voters will be conducted secretly from May 15 to 20.
The voting schedule will be made available to all candidates by May 13. He told that there are 11500 service voters in Gurgaon parliamentary constituency to whom online postal ballots are being sent. The votes of service voters whose ballots are received by 7.59 am on the counting day will be included in the counting.
Candidates should use Suvidha App to obtain necessary permissions.
Manesar SDM Darshan Yadav told through PPT that the Election Commission of India has prepared Suvidha App to provide various permissions related to election campaigning. Candidates or their representatives can obtain permission for vehicles, public meetings, campaign material, loud speakers etc. through this app.
Apart from this, a special counter will also be set up in the Mini Secretariat for offline permission. Municipal Corporation’s Joint Commissioner Akhilesh Yadav also gave detailed information to the candidates about the expenditure related works.
On this occasion, ALC Kushal Kataria, CTM Kunwar Aditya Vikram Singh, OSD to DC Preeti Rawat and related officers and candidates and their representatives were present.
